Bathroom – A Quiet Retreat

Original design for the bathroom was white as a basic simple palette.  It’s clean, soothing and lends itself to offering that retreat feel to a bathroom.  It’s also great for changing up when you want to add more color for interesting focal points.  We added red towels and a red rug for some additional color.  Interesting parts of the space:

  • This particular bathroom had no closet space, it was removed during a renovation but the owners still needed a linen and storage closet.  A cabinet purchased from Arhaus was the perfect addition.
  • The tub was purchased online from a company specializing in free-standing tubs.  Hardware was also available and made it a simple process to add the faucet to the purchase.
  • Bead board was used around the walls that worked with the 60’s cape cod style of the house
  • The window is a café style turned sideways and rolls out to open.  Screen is on the inside of the window.
  • Birdbath was used as a place for a nice floral arrangement and a spot for soap or cloths when needed.

About Siobhan Sheehan

The name, Urban and Upscale, goes way, way back. Its beginning hinges on a gal named Eileen. Born in Maine, Eileen moved to New York during the depression and grew up in the Bronx. Ever ahead of her time, Eileen was always, the one to lead the way in fashioning her home and her surroundings. Her style, her wit and her ability to make a home out of the most meager of surroundings was the envy of the neighbors. Eileen didn't just create a home, she created an urban nest for her brood. When the decision came for me to "name" the company, I went back to my roots, Eileen. I am her youngest and to me she is and will always be, Urban, Upscale and Fashion Forward.
