Team work can make staging a home easier and faster. Why do it by yourself when you can have a few of your staging friends help you. This is what Candi Hutchinson did at Décor Solutions when she staged this home. She sought out the help of her staging friend (Siobhan Sheehan) and ended up with a great look for the home seller.

Halloween!! Spookyboo time!
Halloween decorating is just so, October!! You get to celebrate the entire month! We pulled together a few decorating ideas to help get your house looking really scary. Well maybe not really scary, but fun scary.
Best place to start, the entryway of course! We used pumpkins collected over the years and lined the stairs. Grab some inexpensive autumn greenery to fill in around the pumpkins and you have a full fledged indoor pumpkin patch.
Side board in the entry way is covered with a table runner from Potterybarn. It does a nice job covering the top and just add MORE pumpkins and a few candles and done! Use a battery operated candle inside the pumpkin for light.
Next, the dining room. We used a spider web runner on the table and laid out a spooky tree centerpiece. Both came from Potterybarn. The bats hanging from the light were purchased from Hallmark.
Peterson Street – Louisville Home Staging
Homeowners needed help in staging their home for sale. Worked with the homeowner to use everything existing in the home to keep costs down. Cost was less than $1000 and home sold in less than 30 days.
She Sheds – I think this may catch on
Reading the Courier this morning and came across an article on “She Sheds” – gal’s version of a man cave. So I thought, why not! Maybe I’m late to the party on this one, but having a place to retreat to the great outdoors that doesn’t involve putting up a tent, is on the cool side of easy! So, I googled “She Sheds” and found several links. Thought I’d share one

Now some of these are really fun. Others are just a little too girlie for me. But think about it. You head up to Lowes and pick out a nice little shed that you can decorate all your own. No tools, no lawn mower.
You add windows, drapes, paint the door your favorite shade of whatever and viola, you have a private urban and upscale retreat, all your own, that you can head off to for some quiet reflection. Put a space heater in there and you can use it all year long.
What do you think of the idea of a She Shed parked outside your abode? And what would YOU use it for? We have really got to talk about this one!
Ciao for now

Dining Room
Dining room faux finish is by artist Patrick Sheehan. Finish was inspired by cathedral in Italy from a visit in 2010. Art work on the walls are by the same artist. You can see the images on our at Fourth Wall Murals or our page.
Master Bedroom Staging
A summer retreat
Its doesn’t get much prettier or HOTTER in Louisville during the summer. Decks are the outdoor room added to the house. Just open the back door and the oasis awaits. We had planned on adding a roof over the deck several years ago, but just couldn’t do it. The view has a tree house affect and was just too lovely. So…we opted for umbrellas. Lots and lots of umbrellas. We get shade and can still lean back and see the stars on a warm summer night. Yep, the livin’ is easy up here.
An Artist’s Studio Renovation
The artist’s studio was created as both a studio to paint and an office. The artist is a muralist based in Louisville, KY. So installations and designs were generally large. This meant the need for an area that could accommodate large scale production. What you see here is the beginning. Please keep checking back as we continue the renovation.
There is also a need to display some of the artist’s paintings and illustrations. A decision was made to recreate the space into both a studio and a gallery.
Things that needed to change:
- Remove books from the space off the bookshelves and the credenza. Given that most reference could be gathered from on-line reference, the need for some of the books had become unnecessary
- Begin to declutter and clean the area. The space has become a catchall for anything and everything since it is in the lower level of a private home
- Tile for the floor was from the 1960’s and the decision was made to replace with ceramic tile that had the look of wood. This would keep the floor easy to clean if paint should spill.
- Walls were paneling and installed when the home was built. This will be replaced with drywall
Start of the Renovation
All the books were removed from the credenza that were located in what will be the gallery. This freed up space and uncluttered the area. Storage boxes were moved underneath a table in the studio. Finally, a piece of art that dated back to 1975 was hung on the wall between the lamps.
Bathroom – A Quiet Retreat
Original design for the bathroom was white as a basic simple palette. It’s clean, soothing and lends itself to offering that retreat feel to a bathroom. It’s also great for changing up when you want to add more color for interesting focal points. We added red towels and a red rug for some additional color. Interesting parts of the space:
- This particular bathroom had no closet space, it was removed during a renovation but the owners still needed a linen and storage closet. A cabinet purchased from Arhaus was the perfect addition.
- The tub was purchased online from a company specializing in free-standing tubs. Hardware was also available and made it a simple process to add the faucet to the purchase.
- Bead board was used around the walls that worked with the 60’s cape cod style of the house
- The window is a café style turned sideways and rolls out to open. Screen is on the inside of the window.
- Birdbath was used as a place for a nice floral arrangement and a spot for soap or cloths when needed.
Residential Projects
These are just a few of the projects that we’ve been working on. Some of these are in our home, some are from clients we’ve worked with over the years. All of them inspired by a need to change up, refresh or get the place ready for the next owner. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to share!
